CASA VOLTEGIRA, Bed and Breakfast in Manso
Comfortably situated in an olive grove, Casa Voltegira overlooks the Fangu river.
Each of its rooms offers a breathtaking view of the clear water pools.
At the Mansu bridge, welcoming travellers is a long family tradition.
The great-grandparents of the hosts already ran an inn there in the 1950s.
Today, it is the grandchildren who have taken up the torch.
Welcome to the Fangu Valley.
With its magnificent translucent pools of water, the river attracts with its pure beauty.
It is an enchanting, very well-preserved waterway, and the landscapes it has carved are among the most beautiful in Corsica.
Its remarkably high-quality water, its volcanic rocks, green, red, purple or even black, its waterfalls, all spanned by old stone bridges, invite relaxation.
A mineral landscape.
Located in the Northwest of Corsica, between Porto and Calvi, the valley extends at the foot of the great barrier: the largest mountain range on the island.
A characterful nature.
The narrow and deep Fangu Valley, with its remarkable natural attractions, has been a Biosphere Reserve since 1977.
In this setting of unspoiled and protected nature, there are many hiking trails, including the Tra Mare e Monti and the Montagnera, a variant of the mythical GR20.
A land of shepherds.
The Falasorma region has long been occupied mainly by shepherds, who came from Niolu, a region located on the other side of the high mountains.
They crossed its peaks via a transhumance trail, the Montagnera.
Even today, very close ties exist between these two regions.
About the hosts.
In the 1920s, the Acquaviva family settled at the Mansu bridge, on the edge of the only road accessible by car, to open a grocery store. They sold grain, coffee and sugar to the inhabitants of the valley.
Then in the 1950s, it welcomed the first travellers by opening an inn.
As the family grew, the inn gave way to a bar and restaurant, where people came from far and wide to eat Corsican soup and veal in sauce!
Today, it is the grandchildren who perpetuate this tradition of hospitality with the Casa Voltegira guest house, built opposite the old inn.
